The medium-service trucks used straight-6 motors from Oldsmobile, while the heaviest used the "Normal Big Brute" engine from GMC.
GMC's own six-cylinder engine line was developed from 1939 to 1974: first, the six "Jimmy's" inline and then, from 1960 to 1974, its own V6, with a V8 and a V12 variant still existing. Moreover, in the period between 1955 and 1959, Pontiac, Buick, and Oldsmobile V8 were fitted on domestic petrol trucks of less than two tonnes, while the Chevrolet engines had been employed by the Canadian models. As of 2020, GMC's cars are being included in the more conventional Chevrolet segment in addition to luxurious luxury models over comparable vehicles.
