Used GMC Auto Parts

A subsidiary of the U.S. car maker, General Motors (GM), which specialises on main trucks and utility vehicles is formerly the General Motors Truck Company or the GMC Truck& Coach Division (of General Motors Corporation). GMC is also making premium-based products for SUVs, pickup trucks, transporters and light-duty cars. Fire engines, ambulances, lorries, armed equipment, ransom cars, transit buses and medium duty trucks have in the past also been manufactured by the GMC.

The Rapid Motor Vehicle Company was established in Pontiac Michigan in 1902, and its history is retraced. In 1909, William C. Durant became a division of his company, Rapid Motor Vehicle Company. In 1908 Durant took over the company Reliance Motor Car, another early producer of commercial vehicles. In 1911, General Motors founded and folded Rapid into the General Motors Truck Company. In 1912 names were deleted in favour of GMC for the quick and reliable. At former Rapid Motor Plant 1 in Pontiac, Michigan, all General Motors truck manufacturing was merged.

In Pontiac, Michigan, Oakland, California and St. Louis, Missouri, GMC maintained three plants. At the beginning of 1920, the Chevrolet and GMC trucks were identical, designed as variations on the same chassis, sharing almost the same bodywork, with the exception of names and grids, although their distinctions, particularly motors, were different over the years. Chevrolet was selling for private customers, while GMC sold the vehicles for industrial purchasers and companies. From 1928, GMCs used Pontiac in their lighter trucks with 186 cubic cubicles in six-cylinder engines. The medium-service trucks used straight-6 motors from Oldsmobile, while the heaviest used the "Normal Big Brute" engine from GMC.

GMC's own six-cylinder engine line was developed from 1939 to 1974: first, the six "Jimmy's" inline and then, from 1960 to 1974, its own V6, with a V8 and a V12 variant still existing. Moreover, in the period between 1955 and 1959, Pontiac, Buick, and Oldsmobile V8 were fitted on domestic petrol trucks of less than two tonnes, while the Chevrolet engines had been employed by the Canadian models. As of 2020, GMC's cars are being included in the more conventional Chevrolet segment in addition to luxurious luxury models over comparable vehicles. Vehicles from Chevrolet are priced below the equivalent GMC, but GMCs have functionalities not included in a comparable Chevrolet.

Chevrolet provides a comprehensive line-up of automobiles, crossover models, sports vehicles and pickup trucks in North America. However, GMC does not offer car models, which normally encourage the same dealer to market a complete line-up of premium cars including both cars and trucks along Buick (or sometimesCadillac) vehicles at joint dealer docks. There are, however, independent GMC distributors, mostly for dealers who are focussed on marketing in the industrial and fleet markets.
